Terms of Service

This is a working draft, not a certified legal document. It reflects how the product actually works today. It should be reviewed by a solicitor before being relied on for real paying customers, and updated once billing is fully live.

What MessageHome is

MessageHome is a communication and reminder display: a physical screen that shows WhatsApp, SMS, Telegram and email messages from a family, plus optional daily reminders and calendar events.

What it isn't

MessageHome is not a medical device, a monitored emergency response service, or a substitute for a personal alarm. Reminders and escalations are best-effort notifications, sent when the service is working normally; they are not guaranteed to arrive, and nothing about this service should be relied on in a genuine emergency. If you or someone you support needs monitored emergency care, use a dedicated service for that alongside MessageHome, not instead of it.

Accounts and the free trial

Signing up creates a board on a 30-day free trial. No payment is currently collected during signup.
An account is tied to the email address used to create it. One email can be linked to more than one board.
You're responsible for keeping the messages that reach your board appropriate and for the accuracy of the phone numbers, Telegram contacts and settings you connect to it.

Cancelling

You can cancel from your family page at any time. Cancelling stops the account from progressing to a paid subscription; the board itself is not deleted immediately, so you can get back in touch if you change your mind. A full data deletion is available on request, or through the admin tools, and cannot be undone once carried out.

Acceptable use

Don't use MessageHome to send illegal, abusive, or harassing content, or to try to access boards, accounts or data that aren't yours. We can suspend or remove an account that's used this way.

Service availability

We aim to keep the service running reliably, and we monitor it, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. Third-party providers we depend on (Twilio, Telegram, MailerSend, Fly.io) can also experience outages outside our control.

Liability

MessageHome is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect losses, or for a message, reminder or escalation that failed to arrive due to a fault in a third-party service, a connectivity issue, or an outage. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can't legally be excluded, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be communicated to account organisers by email where reasonably possible.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
